A History Of Building Relationships
Horizon Financial Advisors is an independently owned and operated corporation located in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. President Laura J. Abbott DeCarolis and George P. Hebert founded the firm in 1990. Together, Laura and George have more than 80 years of combined experience in the Financial Services industry and offer a wide range of products and services to meet the diverse needs and goals of our clients.
Our belief is that clients should feel confident with the recommendations of their financial advisor in order to achieve peace of mind. That is why we work hard to establish a relationship with our clients in order to gain their trust then build on that relationship over time.
While we provide the benefits of a large firm, we emphasize small-firm personal attention. We pride ourselves on being responsive and responsible. When you call, you speak directly to us and can be sure your questions and requests are handled promptly by competent, licensed professionals and a knowledgeable staff. As a result, we have an extremely high rate of client retention.
Over 80 Years Of Combined Experience
Laura J. Abbott serves as President and cofounded the firm with George P. Hebert in 1990. We have a vested interest in providing high-quality service and in your satisfaction. In 2015 George moved into semi-retirement. Laura J. Abbott DeCarolis serves as the firm’s advisor. As an advisor, she understands the importance of offering flexible financial services in step with the needs of a variety of clients. We also understand the importance of offering and working with a wide range of products in order to satisfy the diverse needs of our client base.
Laura is a Certified Financial Planner™ and maintains her CFP® designation and other registrations through regular continuing education and participation in industry conferences and events.
Both Laura and George are members of the FPA (Financial Planning Association) and NATP (National Association of Tax Professionals) in order to keep abreast of the latest trends in the financial planning and services industries.

Laura J. Abbott DeCarolis, President of Horizon Financial Advisors, is a Certified Financial Planner™ and holds a FINRA Series 7 General Securities registration, Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser registration, and the Pennsylvania Life and Accident and Health insurance licenses. She attended Clarion University then Robert Morris University from which she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing with a minor in Finance. She has been employed in the Financial Services industry since 1986, when she began her career as a Financial Consultant for Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith. She left Merrill Lynch to work for Horizon Financial Savings & Loan as an Annuity Service Representative. Laura ultimately left the bank in 1990 to establish Horizon Financial Advisors with George P. Hebert.
George P. Hebert holds Pennsylvania Life and Accident and Health insurance licenses. He attended Louisiana State University in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. George has been employed in the Financial Services industry since 1975, beginning his career in the insurance business. In 1986 he accepted a position with Horizon Financial Savings & Loan as an Annuity Service Representative and moved to Pittsburgh. He then left the bank in 1990 to establish Horizon Financial Advisors with President Laura J. Abbott DeCarolis. For many years, George helda a FINRA Series 6 Securities registration and the CFP designation. In 2015, George moved into semi-retirement but continues to work with clients in the sale and service of fixed and indexed annuities.
